I presume Seasons is going to be the last expansion pack for The Sims 3. A Stuff Pack called 70's, 80's, & 90's is going to be released on January 22-24, 2013. I havean't heard anything about any new expansion packs since Maxis usually announces that a new expansion pack around the release of it's current one.
Sim City 2013 will be released on March 5 of that year & I assume it will be the environment format alike to what SimCity 4 was to The Sims 2. For The Sims 2, you could make your own neighborhood terrain that met certain Maxis criteria which was limited. In The Sims 3 you couldn't create a neighborhood the way you could in The Sims 2 but there was a program called Create A World like Create A Sim but you could create a Sims 3 world. Sim City 2013 is going to bring more life to Sims than SimCity 4 & The Sims 3 combined. I feel it would be awesome if The Sims 4 were a Sims Life Simulator of SimCity 2013.
While The Sims 3 brought many new awesome features, I feel it could have been better & The Sims 4 has the opportunity to make it better than Sims 2 & 3 combined. I wish to tell you how Sims 3 was awesome & what sucked while I tell you how The Sims 4 could be even better in not making the same mistakes.
Awesome things in Sims 3:
Open World features which allowed your sims to travel to other lots & houses without loading screens. I found this helpful since if you want your sims to go to community lot, you don't have to wait for a loading screen. You can even see other cars driving past. Roads look more realistic though there are no highways, just two lane roads going one direction per lane with sims driving on the right side of the road.
Options To Change Aging really allow you to make aging in The Sims 3 more realistic or give sims longer lives that you could not do in The Sims 2 without cheats or mods. You can even freeze aging.
Automatic Story Progression truly brings life to your neighborhood with when you're not controlling your sims they will live their lives themselves with relationships being made, jobs being changed, marriages being made, & even death happening with sims moving in & out of the neighborhood. I really think this is enhanced with Sim City 2013 & I hope it gets even better with The Sims 4. You have the option to turn this feature on or off. I like that The Sims 3 gives you the option on Aging & Story Progression.
Innovative Expansion Packs give new ideas for Sims games. Late Night gave Sim gamers the first Urban neighborhood(Bridgeport), Showtime a bigger career in fame just like The Sims Superstar, Generations a whole new perspective on life & family, holidays for Seasons, exotic themes for World Adventures, More pet features for Pets compared to the previous 2 sim game series, & more career opportunities that come with Ambitions.
Creative & Artistic Stuff Packs bring environment pleasure to your sim games but The Sims 3 expands on that by bring new items mostly not seen in previous sim games.
More Online Features help update your game, give ability to play with friends, make downloadable content from EA games more available, new neighborhoods coming from The Sims 3 Store, & overall.
More Create A Sim Features. Expansive & less restrictive, The Sims 3 deserves credit for expanding on this opportunity & Maxis must keep up the good work.
What Sucks Though:
Rabbit Holes make the game less fun & more of a bummer compared to The Sims 2 & in that game you had community lots & not damn rabbit holes. You can't see your sims work, go to school, shop, or grab a bite to eat which sucks ass. However, the buildings look nice.
Character Designs Look Less Real. In my opinion, I feel that the character sim designs look more of a cartoon than in The Sims 2. I'm not saying it was done poorly but I'm saying it could be better. If you look at Need For Spped The Run the character designs were more stunning & I could see how sexy Sam Harper & Nikki Blake were. I just can't see that with The Sims 3.
Controlling It Felt a Little More Difficult. I felt when clicking something it felt harder than Sims 2. I'm not saying controls suck but I believe there's room for improvement. In the Sims 1 & 2, the pointer & clicker would be a narrow point which made targeting an object to click easier. I felt the pointer was too wide & made me feel like it could have been improved.
No Subhoods really confine your sims to a single neighborhood for life like the Berlin Wall. There are three vacation subhood that came with World Adventures but they mostly cannot be customized the way you could in The Sims 2. With The Sims2, you could even combine Maxis neighborhoods with special tools & even make several subhoods to create a state or country if you have either Nightlife and/or Open For Business. Bon Voyage had vacation neighborhoods you could customize more freely than Sims 3. I found the limitations on customizing neighborhoods in The Sims 3 disappointing.
Less Realistic Ancestry & Memories. Comparing Sims 3 to Sims 2, you find in Sims 3 that ancestors & memories have been removed from pre-made neighborhoods. However, you can still play Sims 3 like Sims 2 in terms of family trees but only this time the father is placed to the left of family tree. The same memory system as Sims 2 does not exist in Sims 3. In Generations, memories come back but are not like The Sims 2 ones.
Relationships are more fickle. I found it more difficult to get relationships on track than in Sims 2. Sims 2 had simpler relationships while Sims 3 makes it more complicated & getting sims to marry can be long & difficult without mods.
While the bad things about Sims 3 don't suck hard enough to bite hard into having high ass suckage they sure could be improved in The Sims 4. The Sims 3 is still a great game but I feel somethings have really bummed me out but core items are more expansive than previous games such as sims owning cars & cell phones, which really help alot as well as children having more freedom than before.
For part two I will discuss what should be in The Sims 4 to raise it's awesomeness level through the roof such as making it more awesome than The previous Sims trilogy combined.
